Mike’s NFL Picks 2007 Week 3
By Mike | September 21, 2007
I’m a little drunk right now so maybe now isn’t the best time to be making my picks, but I can’t do much worse that last week, so here goes.
As always the odds are whatever Bodog says at the time I write the post. Don’t take my picks too seriously, I have absolutely no clue what I am doing.
Sunday Early Games:
Indianapolis Colts -6.5 at Houston Texans - I had reservations about taking the Colts laying so many points last week, and look what happened. Its not that I think they’ll lose, but the Cots are a team that does what it has to in order to win, they don’t necessarily blow out their opponents. See last week’s two point victory over Tennessee for an example. That being said, the Texans are without Andre Johnson this week and it will cost them. Colts in a route.
San Diego Chargers -6 at Green Bay Packers - I think the Chargers were only laying four earlier in the week, and I wish I had made my picks then. Six is a lot. Still, I think the Packers have over performed so far, and the Chargers are going to take out last week’s defeat on them, so I’ll take San Diego here, but I’m not confident about it.
Minnesota Vikings +3 at Kansas City Chiefs - The Chiefs are bad, but not this bad. Not bad enough where they need points at home against the Vikings. I’ll take the points, but look for the Chiefs to win this won straight up.
Detroit Lions +6 at Philadelphia Eagles - Wow. Who would have ever thought the Lions would be giving 6 points against any one this year? On the road no less? No way. Eagles rebound and win this one.
Buffalo Bills + 17 at New England Patriots - The Patriots are good and the Bills are not, but I can’t give up 17 points. I have no doubt the Pats will win this game, but there’s too much margin for error if you take them. Bills will not be in this game at all, but they will cover.
Miami Dolphins + 3 at New York Jets - Someone has to win. I’m going to guess its the Jets, by at least a field goal.
San Fransisco 49ers +9 at Pittsburgh Steelers - I still don’t buy the Steelers’ offense, and while I do think they’ll win the game, I don’t think it will be by nine. That’s a lot of points to give up for a defensive team.
Arizona Cardinals +8 at Baltimore Ravens - I’m picking the Ravens, although it really wouldn’t surprise me if Arizona won this game. Except for the fact that its Arizona.
St. Louis Rams +4 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tampa Bay beat New Orleans last week? That can’t be right can it? No such miracles this week. Rams in a route.
Sunday Late Games
Jacksonville Jagaurs +3.5 at Denver Broncos - I don’t know why but I expect the Broncos to be good. They’ve barely escaped against two pretty crappy teams this so far this year. Not this weekend. Jacksonville isn’t very good either but they will go into Denver and come out with a win.
Cincinnati Bengals +3 at Seattle Seahawks - I’m not sure where to go with this one, but in the end I think the high powered offense of the Bengals overcomes its defensive deficiencies and they come out with a win. I’ve got two Bengals and two Seahawks on my fantasy team so I hope this game is as high scoring as the Bengals/Browns game was last week.
Cleveland Browns +3 at Oakland Raiders -Another someone has to win it type game. I don’t know how the Browns pulled it out last week, and the Raiders should have won, so I’m taking Oakland to win this week at home against a crappy Cleveland team.
Carolina Panthers -4 at Atlanta Falcons - How bad to you have to be to be laying points against the Falcons? Carolina has to win this game. If not then I’ve grossly overestimated the quality of their team. Even if it is just Steve Smith, I don’t think they’ll need anything else.
New York Giants +4 at Washington Redskins. - The Giants are bad and that’s all there is to it. Washington will coast through this one.
Dallas Cowboys +3 at Chicago Bears - I don’t want to pick this game. I don’t think there is much that can surprise me in this game. I can see it being a close defensive game, a crazy 45 points each type game or a blowout by either side. I’m going to pick the Bears for no other reason than because I’m a Bears fan. I think they’ll win but I’m not real confident in that assessment. If they do, and especially if they win in commanding fashion then look for them to dominate the rest of the season.
Tennessee Titans +4 at New Orleans Saints - The Sains offense has to snap out of it sooner or later, and I think it will be this week against Tennessee. Look for them to feed off the attention of the Monday night game and run away with this one.
