Devin Hester on Offense
By Mike | May 16, 2007
The Bears are going to use Hester on offense next year. I’m a big fan of that decision. You have the arguably the most exciting and potentially game breaking player on your special teams where he only gets to touch the ball 5-10 times per game, and he still scored 6 TDs last year. Get him an extra 3-10 looks on the offensive side of the ball and I think you are looking at a significant improvement in offensive production.
If all goes well he can be to the Bears what Steve Smith is to the Panthers. Get him the ball anyway you can and great things can happen.
On the flip side of this is the possibility for disaster. Hester had a habbit of running the wrong way in an attempt to allude persuers, and he put the ball on the turf a few too many times for my taste. You can’t have either of those things happen with any sort of regularity on the offensive side of the ball. Not that it was a good thing on special teams either.
If the Bears can get Hester the ball and teach him not to dance with it too much, I think they’ll have a great new weapon for the team.
