Bracket Time
By Mike | March 11, 2007
I watched the selection show for the first time tonight. This is the first year since I’ve really started paying attention to college basketball that the Illini have been on the bubble. I’m glad they were in the second region announced, because I don’t think I could take it if they were in the fourth.
So far, other than 16-1 and 15-2 pairings I don’t think there are any that I can confidently make a prediction. There are a lot of underdogs that I really want to pick. Maybe I’ll fill out a bracket based on coin flips.
I think my problem is that I look at the matchups and think, yeah that 12 can beat that 5, instead of that 12 will beat that 5. Once I think they can do it, I pick them, no matter how likely it might be. That being said the Illini will play the Salukis in round two, and its going to be hard for me not to pick them to knock of Kansas. My hatred for Kansas knows no bounds, and it would be the best thing ever if Illinois could pick them off. Stranger things have happened, especially given Kansas’ record in the tourney in the past few years.
I’ll put my picks up later this week so you can all mock them.
